In 2018 my life took an unexpected turn, my father became very ill which quickly led to an early retirement for me after 26+ years serving in many facets in business and 10 of those years, serving in various management and executive leadership roles. I was so grateful God made a way for me to be available when my amazing parents most needed me and just like that- I became a fulltime caregiver for them both. During these years God revealed so much to me and I was able to introduce my mom to a concept that was not new, but very foreign to both of us- the importance of self-care and how detrimental it is to our well-being as women. I did not know how much of myself I had given away up to this point in my life, until I stepped away from it all. I was beyond exhausted mentally, physically and spiritually and my mom and I were very much now in the throes of releasing ourselves from the vice grip serving others in unhealthy ways had on our lives. It was one of the greatest joys of my life watching my mom gain another level of independence in exploring more of her interests and learning to focus on herself and the people and things that brought her great joy. It was also a grand pleasure making sure she experienced what it felt like to want for nothing and be taken care of. Both of my parents are now with the Lord and I was very humbled and honored that God blessed me to care for them and return the same love and devotion they poured into me throughout my life. My love for caregivers and caregiving deepened during these years.

During my caregiving years, I realized the dream of creating a space catering to women that allows us to tell stories and create memories through fashion, was now burning even stronger in my spirit. You see as a child, I always dreamed of owning my own business and women have always been so exceptional to me. I was like a curious, wise old soul, with extravagant dreams and an affinity for beautiful things, trapped inside of a little body. So intrigued by the dynamic women in my family, church and community- so many unsung super she roes that sacrificed everything for their families and others and filled us with a love that made you feel like you could soar and conquer the world. I was also captivated by the glitz and glam exuded by women on television, in movies and magazines that sparked an out of this world imagination in me as a little girl. My mom loved perusing through magazines and gazing at fashion icons on television as well, and during our intimate talks in her golden years, she shared that one of her dreams since she was a little girl was to also create beautiful clothes for women. So I definitely got all of this passion for fashion and women from my mom.
